Dr JOSEPH KEDOGO
ACADEMIC TEAM LEADER (ATL)
Throughout history, shelter, social life and employment are basic human needs which have stimulated the emergence of fields of architecture and building science. Architecture, the visualization, design and development of the built environment structures, is a multi-faceted discipline that is closely tied with art, technology and science, with expectation that the architect would provide solutions to mankind’s livable spaces sustainably. DABS aims to train architects who will be able to raise awareness about the built environment, and to design innovative and livable environments for all purposes. DABS places importance on communication with other disciplines and cultures as key elements in training of architects.
The main courses in architecture; design studios, environmental design, construction materials and technology, presentation techniques, conservation studies, urban design, are key in the development of the architect. The trainees are introduced to project management and professional practice through site visits to constructions sites, and work in architectural offices for their industrial based learning (IBL), as well as attachments. The aim is to provide opportunities for the future architects to be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills during their training.
The graduates are expected to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life, as dynamic individuals with a high sense of responsibility and leadership, capable of assuming the central role of leadership in teamwork - a global reality since history of architecture and infrastructure development.
