Bachelor of Philosophy in Technology (Construction Management)
One of the mandates of Technical University of Kenya is to provide opportunity for those with tertiary education and training to access education at the Degree level with recognition of prior learning. In its design of curricula, the institution has provided for those with the Diploma in Technology (Dip.Tech.) of Technical University of Kenya to join the Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in the third year of study and take the two final years of study in the programme. While this provision has dealt sufficiently well with the cases with the Dip.Tech. There was a need to accommodate as well those with the Higher Diploma. The Higher Diploma qualification is normally advancement on the ordinary Diploma (i.e. the Dip.Tech.) and lasts two years after the ordinary Diploma. Consequently, those with the Higher Diploma would normally have been trained at a relatively higher level than the ordinary Diploma. In order then to join the B.Tech. Programme, holders of the Higher Diploma would normally require to join at a higher level than those with the Dip.Tech. This situation however would require that the Higher Diploma holders attend less than 50% of the B.Tech. Programme, which normally would not be acceptable for the award of a degree.
Duration of study
The course duration is (4) semesters of fifteen (15) weeks each.
